PRESS RELEASE Impressive Even more haptic experience with the new ‘Surfaces’ collection Worms (Germany), 19 May 2006 – 'Looks like wood': it’s a tribute to any lifelike decorative film. But does the artificial surface feel like wood? What it feels like is after all just as important. This is why RENOLIT AG in Worms (Germany) has extended its "Surfaces" collection. RENOLIT DESIGN now offers more than 20 different textures to cover the entire palette of solid colour and decorative surfaces. Half are renderings of woodgrains; the rest are evenly structured designs, recreating anything from brushed and polished metals to very fine, matte-like surfaces. Gradual individualisation Wood prints are now in more vogue than ever: "There is such a large number of timber species so that two or three kinds are nowhere near enough," says Monika Fecht, head of Design Management for RENOLIT DESIGN and RENOLIT EXTERIOR, describing the demands of the furniture and interiors industry. RENOLIT’s palette ranges from finely grained precious woods to distinctively grooved rustic reproductions. Besides the actual design, the individual surfaces have different gloss levels. Measurement at 60 degrees yields an approximate value for the gloss level that may vary depending on the colour and the decorative pattern. RENOLIT has compiled the new designs in a DIN A4 publication and in a handy fan swatch. A neutral tone of grey is used as a uniform background colour so as to be able to view and compare surfaces objectively.
