1946 Jakob Müller founds Renolit-Werke GmbH in Worms, Germany. The company produces plastic sheets as a substitute for leather which was in short supply and employs seven people in its first year.
1950 The installation of the first calender marks the beginning of the industrial production of upholstering films and materials for the production of office organisation products and flooring.
1955 RENOLIT added engineering and production machinery for the plastic processing industry.
1956 Construction work begins on the main facility in Horchheimer Strasse, with completion in 1958. RENOLIT Hispania, the first foreign subsidiary is founded in Estella/Spain.
1957 Opening of Rheinische Kunststoffwerke GmbH for the development and production of polyethylene film.
In the following, solely RENOLIT is considered as a manufacturer of PVC and polypropylene film:
1958 Acquisition of ELASTONWERKE GmbH, Waldkraiburg.
1963 Start of production of film for surface finishing of furniture in Europe.
1967 American RENOLIT Corporation, Whippany is founded.
1977 Production of self-adhesive foils begins.
1981 Production of foils for window profiles starts.
1988 Production of 3D-furniture films begins.
1998 Purchase of a SOLVAY production site for the manufacture of CAST-PP films in La Porte/Indiana, USA.
1999 Purchase of the "Pegulan“ film division from Tarkett Sommer, Frankenthal.
2001 Acquisition of two production plants in South Africa.
2000 - 2003 La Porte plant production capacity expanded with calender technology and new markets opened in North America.
2003 Following an increasing globalisation as a result of international acquisitions and the opening of new plants in the 1980’s and 1990’s, former Renolit-Werke GmbH is transformed into the joint-stock company RENOLIT AG. Along with RENOLIT are RKW AG and Kiefel AG as legally independent companies. The holding company of RKW, Kiefel and RENOLIT is JM Gesellschaft für industrielle Beteiligungen mbH & Co. KgaA.
2006 Acquisition of the Industrial Foils Business of SOLVAY S.A., Bruxelles. Extension of the sales organisation; the new business unit RENOLIT MEDICAL, RENOLIT WATERPROOFING, and RENOLIT AUTOMOTIVE are added. |
