Decades-old thermoforming of cabinet doors bears little resemblance to current day surfacing of cabinet components with RENOLIT film for two reasons: radical improvements in the physical properties and visual appeal of today's advanced films, and innovative methods employed to manufacture and surface components comprising kitchen, bath and other residential cabinets in their entirety. Today's RENOLIT film is offered in vertical grade and scratch- and mar-resistant horizontal grade—available in a wide range of matching patterns and colors—delivering the precise level of durability required for each component. And while thermoforming once implied "white film" chosen primarily as a substitute for paint, the diversity and extraordinary realism of RENOLIT woodgrains now enable manufacturers to offer the finish and grain patterns of premium, quarter-sawn hardwoods (not shaved veneers) while improving durability and reducing material and labor costs. Together with metallic and speckled patterns, solid colors and the industry's largest selection of whites, RENOLIT film enables manufacturers to simulate the appearance of virtually any traditional material and/or finishing method. And unlike doors-only thermoforming of yesteryear, every visible (non-hot-contact) wood-core component of kitchen, bath and other residential cabinets can be surfaced with RENOLIT film using a variety of production methods as follows: - Membrane pressing of square or routed cabinet doors, center panels and drawer fascias
- Flat laminating and post forming of topside panels and cabinet frame fascias
- Miter folding of flat-laminated panels for seamless outside corners
- Profile wrapping of square or profiled millwork for general trim applications and for conventional mitering of cabinet frame components, and rails and stiles of five-piece cabinet doors that duplicate the miters and resulting grain patterns of solid wood construction.
Vendor Referral Program
If your current sources do not yet offer the equipment needed for CNC routing, membrane-pressing, miter-folding or profile wrapping, RENOLIT can provide a list of well-equipped vendors that do. |
